Introducing: Heirloom Portrait Mini Sessions

Greetings from the Colorado Rockies and welcome back to the Blog!

(Pssst… If you want to skip the fluff, scroll to the bottom to register for your time slot.)

I know it’s been a pretty minute since my last post. Having a teething wildling has a little something to do with it. Okay, a lot to do with it. Mojave has been teething nearly her entire top row of teeth at once. (Can a 9 month old have six teeth showing already? I googled it, and it would appear to be admittedly abnormal, but then again I knew I was dealing with a unique being the moment she was born.) All this to say, I’ve been working hard behind the scenes in whatever free moments I’ve been able to grab ahold of, and I’m SO excited to bring you my newest photography project.

Heirloom Portrait Mini Sessions are coming to the Colorado Springs and surrounding areas this summer! What are they, you might ask? I’ve broken down a list of questions and answers to help you better understand:

What is an Heirloom Portrait?

Heirloom portraits are a creative + tasteful twist on the traditional family portrait. I chose the name because what clients receive are more than just photographs. They are pieces of art that can be cherished for generations to come. I work with subjects ranging from babies to children to adults to cherished pets. Group + couples portraits are also available at an adjusted rate.

How does a Mini Session work?

Each session will be themed with specific props, locations and moods in mind. I will share a sample of the theme prior to sign-up.

Only 5 session time slots will be available per theme on specific days, usually chosen 3 weeks - one month in advance so be sure to subscribe to the newsletter. I’ll alert you when registration opens so you can be first on the list.

The first 5 clients who have completed their registration will be notified and payment will be due at that time. If a client cannot make payment at that time, their time slot will become available for the next in line to keep it fair for everyone.

Weeks leading up to the mini session, the 5 selected clients and I will stay in communication to discuss wardrobe options, schedule a specific shoot time, offer directions to the location or any other important information.

On shoot day, each client and I will have 45 minutes to an hour to capture their heirloom portraits. Clients can choose to arrive early, but are encouraged to arrive at least 30 minutes before their shoot time.

After post-production, each client will receive 5 fully edited, final portrait captures in digital form to use as they wish.

What is the turn-around time?

I always ask clients to give me a minimum of one week turnaround time to allow for post-production and artistry. If for any reason this needs to be extended (hey, life happens sometimes), clients will be notified and kept up to date.

How much is a session and what is included?

An Heirloom Portrait Mini Session includes direct, 24/7 communication with the photographer + creative director (myself) via text, phone and email leading up to a one hour themed + styled photography shoot at a predetermined location + date. Clients will receive 5 final digital images to distribute as they wish.

Please arrive with hair + makeup ready to shoot. I am available for helping with final looks.

Heirloom Portrait Mini Sessions are $300 due at registration completion. This rate covers a single subject. $50 per additional person added in the shot.

What if I don’t have the right wardrobe for the theme?

You would be surprised at what we can make work within your very own closet. However, if buying something new for yourself is out of the question, we can explore other options. With years of experience styling wardrobes in the entertainment industry, I can assure you we will find the perfect outfit to fit our theme.

What if I’m not available the date of the shoot?

Since the Heirloom Portrait Mini Sessions are scheduled in blocks to accommodate 5 clients per theme, we may be able to adjust an arrival time, but not the actual date. This must remain as posted.

Themes will be recycled + updated throughout the year, however if you have your heart on a specific theme, we can schedule a mini session on a date that works for you for an addition $150 a la carte fee.
